Herpes zoster (shingles) is a painful rash-like condition that is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. After an active flare-up episode, the virus will reside in cells of the nervous system. The term “shingles” comes from a Latin word, “cingulum,” which means belt or girdle; the rash of herpes zoster usually appears in a band or belt-like pattern.
Shingles can affect anyone the virus is not blind. Everyone is at risk. It is particularly common in adults over age 50 years. It is also more common in individuals with conditions that weaken the immune system. Now that we’ve discussed what the virus is let’s talk about how to keep it dormant so we can live a healthy life again. One of our master herbalists has developed a strict protocol that if followed, will relieve the symptoms of shingles and allow the body to fight off the virus and keep it in check.
Step 1 Diet:
When you have a flare-up episode of shingles, your nervous system is under attack. You must eat foods that will aid the body in defeating the virus. Eat foods high in vitamins A, B, C, and E.
Foods to avoid:
Avoid foods that cause an acidic body!!! Try to stay away from sugary drinks, sugary foods, eating animal flesh, and fried foods. Sugar suppresses the activity of white blood cells so you’ll have to contain the sweet tooth.
Step 2 prescription:
And now the fun part let’s see what mother earth provides.
Vitamin C: This vitamin is an essential vitamin when it comes to fighting off a virus. We recommend Liposomal vitamin c because the body will only absorb 20% of vitamin c in the pill form. However, the body absorbs 80% of liposomal vitamin C. Take 1-3 sachets a day with water. Vitamin B12: This vitamin is vital in protecting the nervous system, so consider injections of B12 1cc 1-3 times a week.
